FLV means Flash Video Format and it is a video format as defined by Adobe Systems. It has been accepted by many sites as a default online video format. Some known users of the file include You Tube, Vevo, Holu, Yahoo,, Metacafe and many more providers. FLV is viewable on most operating systems via web browser plug-in and the adobe flash player except iOS


.flv technical details

FLV files contain video bit streams that are a proprietary variant of the H.263 video standard and this is under the name of Sorenson Spark. Sorenson Spark is widely available and compatible as it was the first video codec to be supported in flash player although it is an older codec for FLV. FLV supports two versions of screen share codec which is an encoding format for screen casts. FLV files supports uncompressed audio or ADPCM format audio.
