PDF files layout a document in a fixed manner which is in turn interpreted uniformly irrespective of the software, hardware, and operating systems handling it. Files can be password protected, encrypted, edited, while 3D graphics have been supported since 2004. Adobe Acrobat Reader makes it possible for any computer to open it.
