The .asf file format
ASF was formally known as Active Streaming Format or the Advanced Streaming Format. It was created by Microsoft. It is specifically designed for streaming Audio Visual content. ASF files are containers for media streaming and normally Windows Media Audio or Windows Media Video files are found within ASF files.ASF has been replaced by WMV
